MOAA's Mission:
The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is a nonprofit veterans
association dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense and to preserving
the earned entitlements of members of the uniformed services and their families
and survivors.
Who can belong:
Membership is open to those who hold or ever have held a warrant or commission
in any component of the uniformed services or their surviving spouses.

- Won cumulative 41 % pay raise since 2000
(compared with civilian average of 29%)
- Won full housing allowance for Guard/Reserve
mobilized for30-plus days
- Restored capital-gains-tax equity for
military homeowners; tax deduction for Guard and Reserve drill-related
expenses
- Increased Army manpower authorizations by
30,000 and Marine Corps by 5,000 over original request
- Won major survivor benefit upgrades for
deaths on active/Guard/Reserve duty
- Permanently Increased Family Separation
Allowance and Imminent danger Pay
- Won authorization for full replacement cost
of goods damaged in PCS moves
- Established statutory protections for
commissary benefit
- Won permanent health coverage for all
drilling Guard and Reserve members and their families
- Persuaded Congress to change positions on
TriCare Physicians pay from 9.9% reduction to 2% raise in 2007

spending account (FSA) options for child and healthcare expenses
- Working to protect and improve dependent
schools and family programs
- Increasing PCS reimbursements to offset
expenses incurred in government ordered relocations
- Improving government travel card program to
reduce financial risks to service members
- Linking GI Bill benefit amount to the cost
of four-year public colleges and improving Reserve GI Bill benefits
- Defending against Pentagon plan to impose
large fee increases for TRICARE beneficiaries
- Increasing TRICARE payments and eliminating
administrative hassles to attract more doctors to participate in TriCare
- Ending any deduction of VA disability pay
from earned retired pay
- Immediate implementation of 30-year, paid-up
SBP coverage
- Increasing annuities for survivors of
service members

and long term care premiums
