ROTC and JROTC Awards Programs
The Superstition Mountain Chapter presents the MOAA national medal to an
outstanding cadet in 20 local JROTC units and the Army and Air Force ROTC units
at Arizona State University. We also present a United States flag, as our
patriotism award, that has flown over the national capital in Washington, DC to
a cadet in each unit. These award recipients are selected according to strict
MOAA criteria by the ROTC unit staff at each school. The awards are prepared and
presented by Chapter members at the school’s ROTC awards ceremony each year
The Superstition Mountain Chapter of MOAA sponsors twenty high schools Junior
Reserve Officer Training Corps. The schools supported are:
- Apache Junction High School
- Basha High School
- Campo Verde High School
- Casa Grande Union High School
- Chandler High School
- Coolidge High School
- Desert Ridge High School
- Dobson High School
- Gilbert High School
- Globe High School
- Hamilton High School
- Highland High School
- Higley High School
- Marcos de Niza High School
- Mesa High School
- Mesquite High School
- Ray High School
- Red Mountain High School
- Skyline High School
- Westwood High School
JROTC Scholarship Support
The Superstition Mountain Chapter presents 4 scholarships of $500 each to 4
high schools in rotation each year. These scholarships are presented to
outstanding senior class JROTC cadets who plan to attend an institution of
higher learning, and the students are selected by the JROTC staff. The students
are required to register and pay fees at their school and send these
registration documents to the chapter. After approval, the chapter treasurer
sends a check of $500 to the student.
